To use the steering wheel controls to access MBUX settings in your Mercedes-Benz, follow these steps:

1. Touch Control Buttons (if equipped)

  • What They Do: These are touch-sensitive pads located on the left and right sides of the steering wheel. They allow you to navigate the MBUX system without removing your hands from the wheel.
  • How to Use:
    • Swipe up or down to scroll through menus or lists.
    • Swipe left or right to switch between different sections (e.g., navigation, media, vehicle settings).
    • Click or press the touchpads to select a setting or menu item.
    • Example: To adjust the climate control, swipe up or down to access the climate control settings in the MBUX system and press to select your preferred temperature.

  • What It Does: The steering wheel may feature a voice command button that allows you to control MBUX settings hands-free.
  • How to Use:
    • Press the voice command button (usually marked with a microphone icon).
    • After the prompt, say commands like "Hey Mercedes, turn on the air conditioning," or "Hey Mercedes, navigate to [destination]."
    • The system will process your command and adjust the settings accordingly.

3. Multi-Function Buttons for Specific Features

  • What They Do: In some models, the steering wheel will feature specific buttons that control functions like audio, navigation, and phone settings within the MBUX system.
  • How to Use:
    • Volume Control: Adjust the volume by using the volume buttons on the steering wheel.
    • Media Control: Change tracks or stations by using the media buttons.
    • Navigation Control: Toggle between different navigation screens or zoom in/out.
    • Phone: Answer or decline calls, or access the contacts list directly from the steering wheel.

4. Instrument Cluster Navigation

  • What It Does: If your vehicle has a digital cockpit, you can navigate through various MBUX settings directly on the instrument cluster screen using the steering wheel controls.
  • How to Use:
    • Use the left or right touch control pads to scroll through the different options available in the instrument cluster.
    • You can access functions like trip data, vehicle info, and MBUX notifications by swiping and clicking through the menus.

5. Customizable Functions

  • What It Does: Many steering wheel buttons in AMG models allow you to customize certain settings within MBUX, like driving modes, suspension settings, or safety features.
  • How to Use:
    • Navigate to settings like AMG DYNAMIC SELECT to change driving modes (e.g., Comfort, Sport, Sport+).
    • Control the suspension settings, and toggle options for features like AMG Ride Control.
    • Access the car settings for things like the ambient lighting, seat adjustments, and more.
