To activate AMG suspension adjustments through the steering wheel in an AMG-equipped Mercedes-Benz, follow these general steps. The specific controls can vary slightly depending on the model and year of the vehicle, but the process is usually similar:

1. Start the Vehicle

  • Make sure the vehicle is on and the engine is running. Some suspension adjustments might not work unless the vehicle is fully operational.

2. Locate the AMG Drive Unit on the Steering Wheel

  • In many AMG models, the suspension settings are integrated into the AMG Drive Unit, which is a set of buttons or switches located on the steering wheel or near the steering wheel.

3. Identify the Suspension Adjustment Button

  • Look for a button labeled with the word “Suspension,” “AMG,” or an icon representing the suspension (like a spring). On newer models, you may see an icon or text specifically for the AMG settings on the steering wheel.

4. Press the Button to Toggle Between Suspension Modes

  • Press the button to cycle through different suspension settings. These typically include:
    • Comfort mode: for a softer, more cushioned ride.
    • Sport mode: for a firmer, more responsive feel.
    • Sport+ or Individual: for the most aggressive suspension settings, offering the firmest ride.
  • The changes should be reflected on your instrument cluster, or the display screen might indicate which mode is active.

5. Optional: Use the MBUX Infotainment System

  • If the model has an advanced infotainment system like MBUX, you might also be able to adjust the suspension through the screen. Some systems allow you to fine-tune settings for driving modes (e.g., Comfort, Sport) that control various aspects of the vehicle, including suspension.

6. Confirm the Adjustment

  • After adjusting, you should feel the change in ride quality, especially when driving over bumps or sharp turns, depending on the selected mode.

Additional Tips:

  • If your vehicle has an AMG Performance Steering Wheel with touch-sensitive controls, swipe or press the dedicated buttons for suspension adjustment.
  • In some AMG vehicles, you can save your preferred suspension settings in the Individual mode and switch back to them whenever needed.
